My Journey: Running the Hendy Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon for Cancer Research UK
This year, I’ve embarked on a new adventure—I’ve started running. While I’m still new to the sport this year, I’ve set myself a major challenge: to run the Hendy Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon on Sunday, 23rd February 2025, in support of Cancer Research UK.
Why I’m Running
Cancer has personally affected my family, and it’s a cause that’s close to my heart. I’ve chosen to support Cancer Research UK because of the incredible work they do to improve cancer treatments, boost survival rates, and work towards a cure. By raising money, I hope to contribute to this life-saving research and bring hope to families like mine who have faced the challenges cancer brings.
About the Race
The Hendy Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon is known for its scenic yet challenging route, including the 300-foot ascent of Spring Hill at Fordcombe, which runners often mention as one of the toughest parts of the race. The event has been recognised for its excellent organisation, value for money, friendly marshals, and stunning scenery. It was voted the ‘Most Improved Race in the UK’ in 2009 and ranked as the No.2 Half Marathon in the UK by Runner’s World readers in 2011.
This race is one of the biggest events in the UK organised by a running club. Tunbridge Wells Harriers, who have proudly hosted the event for over 40 years, ensure everything runs smoothly thanks to their dedicated volunteers. Over the past decade, the race has raised around £200,000 for charity and local causes. This year, Hendy is the headline sponsor, and we are incredibly grateful to them and all of our partners for supporting this fantastic event.
My Fundraising Goal
As I prepare to take on this challenge, I’m aiming to raise over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK. Every donation, big or small, will go directly towards vital research to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Please consider supporting my efforts. Whether you can donate, share my fundraising page, or simply cheer me on, your contribution will make a real difference.
Running a half marathon is no easy task, but the thought of raising money for such an important cause keeps me motivated. Together, we can help Cancer Research UK continue its incredible work and bring hope to those affected by cancer.
Thank you for your support—it means the world to me!
